“Holding on to anger is like grasping a hot coal with the intent of throwing it at someone else; you are the one who gets burned.” -Anonymous
Take away the ‘D’ and the Danger Zone ominously
becomes the Anger Zone, and for good reason.
Anger and resentment are not only harmful for us mentally, but lead to
some serious physical problems.
Hoping to increase your blood pressure and heart
rate? Try getting really upset at the
person who cut you off in traffic. Planning
to dump toxins into your system and actually make your blood boil? Become outraged when your computer freezes. Slam some doors and yell if you accidentally
get the wrong order at Dunkin’ Donuts. And while you’re at it, raise your blood
sugar and clog your arteries by being generally ticked off.
In addition, recent research at the Cancer Treatment Centers of
America showed that almost two-thirds of cancer patients identified resentment
and inability to forgive as personal issues for them.
Flying off the handle
only leads to a bad landing. Blowing
your top, fuse, or gasket hurts you, both body and soul. Think before you give someone a piece of your
mind. Make sure you can do without it
first.
When you see
red, stop and use your head!
