Hooray!  The first day of summer 2012 is June 20^th! 

It’s the end of the spring and here she comes back.  Hi, hi, hi, hi there.  Them summer days, those summer days…Here’s to some Hot Fun in the Summertime with Sly and the Family Stone.

It’s summertime and the livin’ is easy. What timeless words from composer George Gershwin. Summer, summer, summertime…time to sit back and unwind. Take some good advice from DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince.  Why? 'Cause it's summer.  Summer time is here.  Yes, it's summer.  My time of year.  Sing along with War.

Mungo Jerry sang, in the summertime when the weather is high, you can chase right up and touch the sky.  Ahhh.  Summer sun, something's begun…

And so, though we gotta say goodbye for the summer (Bobby Vinton), put on your tee-shirts, cut-offs, and a pair of thongs.  We’ll be having fun all summer long with The Beach Boys.

… but uh-oh those summer nights!  Grease is the word.

Long live the eraser.

An eraser was first added to the top of a pencil in the late 1700s, but wax and even pieces of bread were previously used to remove unwanted lead or charcoal marks on paper.  As long as there have been people, there have been mistakes.

As the author of your life story and fellow human being, you may need to use a little Wite-Out once in a while.  But it’s worth it to live authentically.  Living half the truth is living a whole lie.

It’s not always easy to be honest with yourself. James Garfield said, “The truth will set you free, but first it will make you miserable.”  The option, however, is to spend your life being true to a lie. 

Nobody wants to follow The Worst Policy.  Don’t be afraid to do a bit of editing within the story of your life.  Start a new chapter.

…Or if something is in your teeth.  Did you also know that genuine friendships are good for your health?

We know that our friends provide emotional support and boost our self-esteem, but people with meaningful social connections also have fewer cardiovascular and immune problems.  Recent research has shown, too, that women diagnosed with advanced stages of ovarian or breast cancer live twice as long if they have strong support groups.  They also experience less pain throughout their treatments.

It has been said that friends are the relatives you make for yourself.  With all the mental and physical benefits of friendship, it makes sense to nurture those ties like your life depended on it, because it just might.   It turns out that Phone-a-Friend really is a lifeline!

Time for a ‘family’ reunion!
